Chelmsford Youth League Under 13s 2-4 Royston Crow Youth League Under 13s, Anglia Inter Counties East Anglia Youth Inter League Competition, Sunday 12th December 2004, Sandon Sports Club. Chelmsford’s Under 13s side pushed their Royston opponents all the way in the second half but just came up short as the Hertfordshire-based side showed off some impressive finishing skills. Royston took a first half lead after around half an hour and within five minutes of the second half beginning they had created a three-goal cushion. In the face of adversity, Chelmsford came out in the second half looking more comfortable on the ball and Chelmsford City’s Ben Childs struck a superb goal into the top corner for what looked like a consolation goal. However, substitute Luke Norrington popped up in the box to side-foot home another which re-ignited the game as a contest. A further simple chance went begging for the hosts and when Royston added a fourth courtesy of a brilliant long-range drive late in the game, Chelmsford were forced to accept defeat although it was clear that the team contained many good players who will be a credit to their clubs in present and future matches.
